This is a diagnosis of exclusion
Clinical features:
Soft ear clicks heard by patient & examiner
Symmetrical palatal tremour (levator veli palatini muscle)
Ataxia
Findings on investigations:
MRI, MRA:
- Absence of lesion in dentato-rubro-olivary pathway (Guillain-Mollaret triangle) which lies in the brainstem tegmentum
- Hypertrophic olivary degeneration
- Atrophy of the cerebellum
